The Body Is the Gear: New Book Reclaims the Wild Within

ASHEVILLE, NC | Summer 2025 — Wellness often feels disconnected from nature. Asheville-based innovator Patrick Clark seeks to change this with his book. He invites readers back to the source with A Rewilder’s Guide to Outdoor Adventure: Self-Healing in Nature. Recently released, the revolutionary book is reaching audiences seeking a more embodied, regenerative approach to health and adventure.

As more people seek nature-based solutions to stress and burnout, A Rewilder’s Guide provides timely and practical wisdom. This wisdom is rooted in ancestral principles and enriched by modern-day storytelling.

The book introduces a holistic philosophy that centers the body as the most essential gear for outdoor living. Clark combines personal stories science and practical insights on natural fiber clothing, grounding practices, and ancestral wellness techniques to support physical and emotional wellbeing.

The book came at no easy cost. Clark questioned a lot of mainstream outdoor gear philosophy as he spent years experimenting with a natural fiber outdoor wardrobe which was unheard of at the time. Many scoffed at his ideas but he was determined to re-invent a new backpacking style and gear set composed of mostly natural fibers. Clark experimented with natural fibers until he came up with an entire gear set that rivals it’s synthetic counterparts in weight and outperforms them in many ways.

Clark is also the founder of Lucky Sheep, an outdoor gear company based in Asheville that creates eco-conscious tools for those looking to live more simply and naturally. Known for its minimalist sleep systems and sustainable lifestyle products, Lucky Sheep supports individuals in reclaiming their connection to the earth and their own vitality.

“This book is the result of years of exploration and reflection,” Clark shared. “Taking the time to let it grow shaped it into something deeper than I first imagined.”

The book speaks to wellness seekers, nature lovers, and anyone curious about what it means to truly live in rhythm with the natural world.
