The Lucky Sheep Tipi Tent Waterproof Barrier is designed to create a dependable moisture barrier beneath your sleeping area while preserving the open, breathable character of our natural canvas shelters.
Constructed from lightweight silnylon with an integrated perimeter bug screen, it attaches securely inside the tipi to create a dry, insect-protected sleeping area without sacrificing ventilation.
The surrounding mosquito netting keeps insects outside while allowing fresh air to circulate beneath the edges of the tent. This continuous airflow helps reduce condensation while maintaining the comfortable, breathable environment that makes canvas shelters so enjoyable to sleep in.
Why We Chose Silnylon
At Lucky Sheep, we believe every material should be chosen for the job it performs.
For this application, silnylon offers an exceptional combination of lightweight waterproof performance, durability, and packability. The silicone coating itself is chemically inert, with no additional waterproofing treatments applied to the fabric.
Because this component functions only as a waterproof barrier beneath your sleeping area, it doesn’t change what matters most about the shelter: a breathable organic canvas canopy, excellent ventilation, and the opportunity to sleep in a shelter built primarily from natural, non-toxic materials.
Rather than eliminating every synthetic material regardless of purpose, our philosophy is to use the right material for each application. Whenever a natural material can perform as well or better, that is the direction we take. Where modern materials clearly provide the best solution—such as a lightweight waterproof barrier or insect screening—we use them thoughtfully and only where they provide a genuine benefit.
Create an Even More Natural Sleeping Environment
For those who prefer an even more natural sleeping surface, we also offer an optional Waxed Canvas Ground Cloth that lays directly on top of the waterproof barrier.
This creates a durable natural canvas surface beneath your sleeping pad or bedding while the silnylon underneath quietly performs its single task of keeping ground moisture out.

This waterproof barrier is a perfect example—using modern materials only where they truly excel, while preserving the natural sleeping environment that defines the Lucky Sheep experience.This ground sheet is designed for our Organic Canvas Tipi Tent. It attaches with velcro around the circumference of the tent to keep out insects, while still allowing the natural ventilation of the canvas. Made from 1.1 oz. silnylon which is a non toxic synthetic material, and a length of bug netting.
