The most useful thing we receive is not a review. It is a field report: what you took, where, in what weather, and what happened. We use the same format for our own trips, and it is deliberately short.

Location · Conditions · Equipment · What happened · What worked · What didn’t · What we learned. A few lines under each is plenty. Wet nights and things that failed are as welcome as the good ones — that is how the gear gets better. With your permission, reports may appear in the Field Notes, credited the way you choose.

I absolutely LOVE my Lucky Sheep sleeping bag, camp pillow and merino wool insert. I really laboured over investing in this sleeping bag (bc hey, merino wool aint cheap!) but after finally pulling the trigger, I had no regrets. I toted that thing all over the West while camping and house sitting. It is so incredibly soft, well-made and cozy. I was tired of sleeping in plastic, and this high vibe piece of functional art is an exponential upgrade--it is something to treasure. Before purchasing my Rewilder sleeping bag, I reached out to Lucky Sheep with an inquiry if they could insulate it all the way to the zipper. As a side sleeper, I was concerned that rolling back-and-forth frequently, the design might not work well for me. I was pleasantly surprised that not only did I receive a prompt reply, but it was thoughtful and personalized, and even more surprisingly, Patrick Clark responded himself that they were willing to make me a custom bag. We received absolutely excellent customer service and a very fair price. In fact, I researched making my own bag and just the supplies would cost as much. I have slept in my bag on several campouts so far and I love how soft and snuggly, delightfully warm and lightweight it is. The bag is quiet when you move, unlike a crinkly flattened down bag. I did have to repair a few tears in the fine merino lining at the quilting ties; I think my wool sweater was too rough on it. I enjoy breathing inside the bag when the weather is freezing. I have the 10° version and I am a cold sleeper. I believe that wool batting is the ultimate choice for warmth, breathability, fire retardancy, it is antimicrobial, warm when wet, repeatedly compressible without damage, and biodegradable once it reaches end of life for the most ethical choice from cradle to grave. I will never buy down again. I highly recommend the Rewilder sleeping bag and I hope that more people discover how superior it is to any other sleeping bag on the market.

Ordered a wool sleeping pad and was sent the wrong amount of wool layers and was told to send it back by Lucky Sheep. Sent it back and was told it did have the correct amount of layers (it did not, I ordered 6 and counted 4) and was then told I would have to pay a $200 shipping fee to sent it back to me. I have had the ReWilder for three years now and believe it is one of the best pieces of gear I have ever purchased.  The quality is top notch, especially considering I am very rough with my gear.  The ReWilder is still in like-new condition.  The construction of the bag, especially how the wool is kept in place with horizontal cords is ingenious.  You can feel the quality of the materials, there is no doubt that it is non-toxic.  I happen to be a human who has chemical sensitivities, and this bag makes me feel better when I sleep in it. Next is the versatility.  There are four distinct ways I use this bag for sleeping.  First is completely opened up as a blanket.  This makes the bag comfortable in temps around 50-60F.  The second is to cinch up the feet end and zipper the bag up a few inches.  This method is fantastic in slightly cooler weather where you can secure your feet in this little cubby, but use the rest of the bag as an open blanket.  Third is to zipper the bag closed with the zipper on top.  Here I can be comfortable in temps down to freezing.  When it is colder than this, the fourth way to use the bag, is to turn the zipper side under you, which creates even more insulation.  Due to these four variations, I can use the bag for nearly the whole year where I live. I recommend the ReWilder for its durability, wool enhancing properties, and versatility.  There is nothing else like the ReWilder out there and the company Lucky Sheep is fantastic to work with.  This bag was designed for use outdoors by someone who actually uses the bag. I bought a wool sleeping bag with merino liner from Patrick in July 2016. The initial cost was hard to swallow, but I am very happy with my purchase. This bag has traveled with me across three continents and it fits nicely inside my Gossamer Gear backpack. I have also used it almost exclusively for regular sleep on a mattress not just camping. It works great as a comforter bc the bag unzips and opens like a book. After so much use, the merino liner on the inside of the bag did get some tears but these were easily sewed up by a tailor for 20 euros. I've never looked back at a synthetic bag. I slept more in this bag over the last Spring Summer and Fall then my own bed at home. Primarily because of my line of work has me in the outdoors for weeks at a time. Every night with glee I crawled into my Luck Sheep bag. Absolutely one of the best investments I have ever made in my life (and I mean...OVERALL!!! Not just for camping)!!! The fact that you can crawl into it when it gets cold and the wool/cotton combo wicks moisture away while keeping you warmer and can lower your blood pressure, getting you into REM sleep easier is worth it alone. I have the thickest loft and it’s still lightweight enough (by far) for backpacking. If you have cold feet, they’ll warm up a lot faster than even lower temperature rated down bags. Hands down the most comfortable sleeping bag iv ever used, finally a company making full wool organic sleeping bags with a mommy cut for the average thru-hiker. In the backpacking world, you typically have two options, down or synthetic, both have their advantages and disadvantages. But then theres wool, standing in a category of its own and finally fits in a backpack thanks to lucky sheep's unique design, unlike synthetic or down, you don't have to worry about embers from a fire instantly burning a hole in your bag, and the ability to trap your breath inside the bag for an increase in temperature rating is unmatched. Your compromise is added weight, but every ounce is worth it when your sleep improves so dramatically, climb inside wet and wake up dry, youl never get too hot, and you actually FEEL warm when it counts!
