A canvas hiking backpack made the Lucky Sheep® way is simple on purpose: organic cotton canvas, a beeswax finish, replaceable hardware, PFOS-free zippers and tough polyester thread. Simple materials, repairable construction, built to age through use. When a strap wears or the finish dulls, you stitch it or re-wax it and keep walking.
The Multi-Day Pack
On your back — the Lightweight Organic Canvas Backpack. 65 L, 32 oz, torso sizes S, M and L, $350. It is frameless: your sleeping pad folds in against your back and becomes the frame, so there is no stay to bend and nothing to snap.
An honest word on weight. 32 oz is light for canvas. We do not claim it beats a synthetic pack on the scale, and we would rather you knew that before you ordered. What the canvas gives you is a pack you can patch with a needle, re-wax with a bar, and carry for decades.
Water-Resistant, Not Waterproof
Beeswaxed canvas sheds showers and dries fast. It is not a dry bag. In real rain, line the pack: put the sleeping bag and spare clothes in the Silnylon Stuff Sack, or use the Beeswaxed Cotton Stuff Sack (10 × 20 in, 5 oz) when you want a natural-fiber liner for the things that can stand a little damp. We are not opposed to a modern material when it solves a specific problem exceptionally well, and keeping a wool bag dry is that problem.

Let the canvas dry before you store it. Brush off mud rather than scrubbing it. When water stops beading, re-wax — a bar of Trail Wax, rubbed on and warmed in with a hair dryer or an afternoon in the sun.
