Wilderness Reset Retreats

How would it feel to go into the wilderness and be cradled by nature in a primeval forest for a few days, dipping in cool mountain pools, breathing the sweet mist of the waterfalls, and hiking along pristine trails to make camp in tranquil and relaxing places?

What if all your needs were provided for: Delicious Fresh Paleo Food, Tent, Sleeping Bag and all you need to do is show up.  (You will have a list of personal items you need to bring such as proper clothing, flashlight, etc). Each day is a new experience as we hike a few miles to another camp and let nature wash over us and our senses come alive.

The silence, peace and beauty of nature is the primary healer and teacher. We will also learn the tools, techniques and attitudes to merge with nature and exist away from modern settings in a safe and nurturing way. We will have class time for learning these primitive camping skills, yoga, and paleo rewilding lifestyle principles as we reset our circadian rhythms with the energies of the earth and cosmos. We will get to experience nature first hand in the safe setting of a guided wilderness retreat.

A lot of people think of the Vision Quest when thinking about transformative wilderness experience. That usually means spending a few days in depravity crying for a vision, fasting and taking the body to the edge and beyond. On the other extreme, many people love to go hiking to waterfalls and scenic overlooks, hugging trees and then going back home to a nice safe bed. What would it be like to combine these two approaches—that is—to go into nature in a way that it is nurturing and comfortable, spending several days and nights completely disconnected from modern life–and yet also have a life changing experience that gives you vital information about why you are here and what your life is about?

New Earth Expeditions leads overnight backpacking trips which are transformative like a Vision Quest but approached in a different way. Wilderness Guide and Paleo Coach Patrick Clark teaches how to be comfortable and at ease in the outdoors. How taking care of your needs with good food, sleep, movement and comfort actually helps merge with nature and doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste; how to overcome fears such as: dark, cold, dirt, animals, being alone, the unknown, pooping in the ground, changing ones environment. This results in accessing inner guidance and a greater sense of freedom.

Nature is our teacher. The first thing it shows is where we are off with rhythms and frequencies. Out here we are no longer surrounded by walls and a constant protected space and environment built by humans. There are extremes of temperature and humidity. There are uneven surfaces to walk on. This may sound at first like no big deal, but your body will begin to wake up from the influences that you aren’t even aware of. The sun is hitting our skin and interacting with it. There is the need to use the body for actual navigation instead of using a machine (vehicle). For many of us this puts us out of familiar territory and thus our comfort zone. This is where the rubber meets the road—or the soles meet the trail! No longer can philosophy and theory suffice to explain things. Suddenly there is an immediate, felt connection between our actions and our body. Now we notice where clothing and diet really matter. Certain foods and clothing are warming and essential for survival and comfort. We no longer have things to constantly occupy our mind. So we become confronted with our thoughts and our mind. The immediate surroundings start to create a dialogue. We cultivate relationship with animals, plants, earth, and elements. And the thoughts and voices inside our head become audible without all the background noise.

New Earth Expeditions also teaches a new way to look at wellness and health. Away from modern society, we now have the joy of experiencing the health giving qualities of nature such as the sun, the Shumann’s Frequency, negative ions in the air, cold water therapy, absence of pathogenic Electromagnetic Fields, artificial lighting, and the toxic fumes and chemicals found in modern environments. Nature helps us build a strong body by providing life-giving substances as-well-as by offering resistance in the form of temperature extremes, healthy movement, and physical challenge.

New Earth Expeditions Guide Patrick Clark has a B.S. Degree in Outdoor Recreation and was trained in outdoor leadership by late world renowned Paul Petzhold, founder of NOLS, Outward Bound, and Wilderness Education Association (WEA). Patrick Clark also has fine tuned a unique system of backpacking which optimizes the body’s natural functions using the Paleo Diet and Natural Fiber camping gear which he designed based on these principles. 

A daily schedule looks something like: wake up, yoga, breakfast, hiking, making camp, relaxing by water, cold water plunging (invitation), bare footing and tree hugging, personal alone time for journaling, reading, meditating, delicious paleo meals prepared by the group, crystal grid rituals, Shamanic Journeying, Kirtan Chanting, massage, and learning how to incorporate these practices in daily life. There is a perfect balance of time between structured group activities and personal alone time.
